24 January 2018 Guest: Gloria Bosman

Gloria Bosman, was born in Mofolo, but was raised in Pimville, Soweto. At no time did she consider that life would take her on a journey that would include stage and performing as a professional performer.

In much the same way as most of her American contemporaries, she began her career singing in a church Choir.

Over the past decade, Gloria Bosman has risen to become one of South Africa’s most prominent and successful jazz vocalists, mastering a blend of Afropop, R&B, gospel and straightahead jazz. Added to that, she is a powerhouse of a singer: think Miriam Makeba with extra chutzpah.

This talented woman’s career began in the church choir in much the same way as her American contemporaries.

With five albums to her credit under her belt, as well as several collaborations, concert and guest feature appearances. Her latest offering, namely “Emzini”, has very recently been released to the market and is already receiving wide acclaim, airplay and feature across all media formats.

Gloria Bosman’s new album, entitled “Nature Dances” is a bold new step for this accomplished artist. She has in fact funded the recording herself and Sheer Sound licensed this beautiful album from Bosman Music.

Tune in tonight at 22:30 live on SABC 3. #TSAon3

23 January Guest: Minnie Jones

Minnie Dlamini is an award-winning South African actress, television personality, and brand ambassador. She gained her fame as the host of one of South Africa’s biggest music shows, Live.

Parented by Jabulani and Queen Dlamini in Durban, KwaZulu Natal. She had her early education at Northlands Girls’s High school before she could to the University of Cape Town.

While studying at the University of Cape Town, Minnie became a presenter for LIVE on the 16th of June 2010 after she made her debut screen appearance while covering the “ Youth Day” and “ World cup celebrations” shows. At the time, Live was headed by Bonang Matheba, Tbo Touch, MTV VJ Sizwe Dhlomo and the lesser known Phila Mazibuko. Dlamini had a huge task on her hands if she were to sparkle in the face of such star power. Bonang was perhaps the biggest star, then and now, but it was no deterrent for the talented Dlamini. She quickly honed her role and came to have her own fan-base. Arguably, her fame came at a much faster speed and in greater volumes. In just a few months she landed a role in Generations on SABC 1, as Miranda. Minnie achieved her goal in the face of just two popular shows. These shows were enough to turn any unknown into an instant star with the far-fetching audience and level of exposure due to its popularity. Catch her tonight as she’ll be sharing her story with us. #TSAon3
